As an anxiety specialist and psychotherapist, my journey into the field of counseling wasn’t a straight path. Initially, I dreamt of becoming an English professor, but life had other plans for me. Through my involvement in literacy education and counseling, I discovered a passion for helping individuals overcome their struggles.
In a recent interview with Jacque Howard Trenton 365, I had the opportunity to share insights into my practice at Clear Mind Counseling NJ. We delved into various aspects, including my work with children with learning disabilities at The Bridge Academy, an accredited school providing vital support in New Jersey.
Moreover, I’m actively engaged in the Trenton Microloan Collaborative, a project aimed at empowering formerly incarcerated entrepreneurs through microloans and support services. Addressing mass incarceration issues and providing opportunities for individuals to rebuild their lives is crucial to me.
One of the highlights of our conversation was the forthcoming voter information event at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Greenwood Ave in Trenton, NJ. Scheduled for Sunday, May 5th, from 12 to 2 PM, this event will offer voter registration services alongside delightful donuts. It’s a collaborative effort involving multiple Presbyterian churches, emphasizing the importance of civic engagement.
In our practice, Clear Mind Counseling NJ, we address a wide range of issues, from childhood learning disabilities to adult workplace anxiety and seniors’ aging-related fears. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated anxiety levels, affecting both children and adults. We emphasize ongoing support and maintenance in therapy, allowing clients to work on various aspects of their well-being.
Additionally, I’m excited to introduce virtual reality anxiety therapy as a new approach in our practice. This innovative method helps clients overcome specific fears, such as fear of flying, through gradual exposure therapy in a controlled environment.
Despite the challenges, I remain hopeful about the future of mental health care and community engagement. Together, we can create spaces where individuals feel supported and empowered to navigate life’s challenges with resilience.
Join us at the voter information event, and let’s make a difference together!
